Hello art friends and art fans! Thanks for dropping in.

Dianne is delighted to announce she is successful in the annual Federation of Canadian Artists jury for AFCA status. She joins ten other artists from the 2008 submissions who can now add AFCA to their credentials. I'm so pleased.

Second photo to left is our wonderful Jupiter Ranch March 8 - 9 workshop group. Lovely workshop space provided by our dynamic host Sylvie, an organizer extraordinaire! Watch for more workshops at this location.

The studio has been a busy place with a new series of acrylics. I put a lot into these, as I usually do. I seem to be a rather focused painter, especially when I use acrylics. There's so much opportunity to continue to evolve the work. I want to keep going richer and deeper and bolder. There is a place I want to get to that I haven't yet reached, but I guess that is the nature of the art business. The next painting is always going to be the big masterpiece! It's all in the process and the doing.

And there's always the beach nearby to refresh the creative juices. I love having my inspiration only a few minutes away from the studio.

The folks in BC's Fort St. John, up in the Peace River Country, have invited me to present two workshops in September. That's the mighty Peace River in the photo above. Looks like beautiful country. Fabric Art Adventures

I've had a dream for some time that I would like to work with and collaborate with fabric artists and fabric crafters. A serendipitous encounter with Rosalyn Cherry last summer has led to a rather interesting enterprise. Rosalyn is a needlepointer (web site -- http://stitchamaze.com) and is in the process of re-interpreting my Wind Dynamics painting as a needle point. In the process, she engaged artist, Sharon Lee (photo to right), to paint the basic image onto a needle point canvas. Rosalyn is now on creative vacation in sunny Florida and took her needle point project with her. Rosalyn has also encouraged other needle point artists to re-interpret Wind Dynamics too. There are now three others also working on this image. More photos of the process in our next newsletter.

Calling all fabric artists, crafters, artisans, quilters, felters, needle pointers! Are you a fabric artists, crafter, artisan?? Would be interested in reproducing or re-interpreting a full image or detail of one my artworks? I will make a pattern available including colour reference. Cost based on size of image and reproduction rights requested. Pick an image from any part of this web site, either Jodi Forster's work or mine and contact us. I'd be delighted to discuss your project.
Jodi's Creativity Report - In addition to keeping the studio organized, Jodi is working on several projects. She's often busy with pen and sketching block, playing with her intuitive drawings that are often reminiscent of aboriginal art, either Coastal First Nations or Inuit. Jodi is also researching an idea for another of her large sculptural installations. As I write she in building a mask in maleable plastercine as a mold for either a hide or paper art work. More on these projects in future newsletters. In the meantime, revisit Jodi's art thoughout this web site. Click on Jodi's pages here, or on the nav bar on the upper left of this page.
