Studio Newsletter for October 29, 2007 by Dianne Bersea and Jodi Forster
At Linnaea Farm Harvest Fest
Hello Everyone! Thanks for dropping in.

This summer, despite the unseasonal weather, it seems that all the important things happened on a sunny day. Here Elizabeth Anderson, a Cortes Island felt, fabric and print artist, with our own Jodi Forster at the 2nd annual Linnaea Farm Harvest Festival, a cornucopia of talent, veggies and hay.

Dianne brought her watercolours and painted the activity. The resulting sketch raised $100 at the afternoon Linnaea Farm Fundraising Auction.

Other activities included the ever-popular gum boot toss, apple-juicing and baking contests.

Painting the Harvest Festival
Hat
Summer was all about workshops and sketching and making new friends. And looking for new ways to "see" the world, such as this charming picture of an artist at work with hat at the ready. The following photos are Jodi's vision. We're so pleased with her photographic imaging, we are thinking about making prints available.

We had some crazy fun with watercolour media at summer workshops, taking off with blind color selection and subjective colour application. It's amazing how right a red sky and red mountains can look! For more workshop photos Click Here.

Hollyhock Chard, earth view
Speaking of workshops, Dianne will be back at Hollyhock in 2008, facilitating a "Painting the Hollyhock Garden" Workshop (see Hollyhock chard above). "This is the workshop for garden lovers, nature lovers and watercolour artists who want to immerse themselves in the scent and color of an extraordinary garden. We'll look at things from up and down, and every which way, bringing a new perspective and energy to our work, plein air and all". For more info on upcoming workshops, Click here or click on link in side bar panel..

Jodi's New Work

This installation / assemblage (photo to right above and detail to right) is one of Jodi's new hide mask creations, "Kuan Yin:". Jodi cast goat hide over a ceramic form and suspended it in a cedar drum hoop and fir root. A goddess earring of cast silver, also made by Jodi, completes Kuan Yin's compassionate image.
