"If you know of someone who might like a whimsy of their resort, business or home, pass on my name. I love doing them! Whimsies are a wonderful creative and mind-expanding challenge."

Dianne Bersea, Rock Fish study
Sacred Grove, by Dianne Bersea To Left - A taste of more than twenty of Dianne's Classic Watercolours now on-line with lots of Dianne's reminiscences and info about the images. Click Here to see more.
To Left - A denizen of the deep,a copper rock fish (and personal friend, see above), in an ocean aquarium at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre on the outer west coast of Vancouver Island. A recent four day visit there with a convocation of Federation of Canadian Artists (all thirty-six of us), was a thrill. Tons of ocean info, great food and terrific boat trips. Lots of sketching and communing too!
BMSC rock fish "on station"
I became quite attached to this Copper Rock Fish, who parked "on station" among the sea weed. I learned that rock fish are among the most evolved of fish with hearing and sound capabilities. They can grow to be 80 - 100 years old.
BMSC field trip results
The purpose of our journey to BMSC - to research artwork based on our marine environment for a show "Oceans of Art" opening at the Nanaimo Art Gallery beginning June 11 and running through June 29 2009. See you there!!
Mark Hobson on BMSC field trip We were knowledgeably guided by BMSC staff and west coast landscape and marine artist Mark Hobson. I really enjoyed Mark's enthusiastic observation of our coast and marine life. Great to see how other artists approach their work.
BMSC Whale Lab
This is the BMSC Whale Lab, one of many research labs opened to us for our art research.
To right - Rosalyn Cherry-Soleil's amazing needlepoint interpretation of Dianne's painting Wind Dynamics. This panel, one of three 16 " squares, is still in progress. Rosalyn teaches creative needlepoint and is currently guiding four other artisans working on their own interpretations of Wind Dynamics.

If you are interested in doing quilts or fabric art from Dianne's art or designs, please get in touch. Contact info on nav bar to left.
