To Cortes Island Cortes Island is on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada, about 160 kilometres (100 miles) north of Vancouver. Cortes is one of the Discovery Islands, right in the middle of Georgia Strait where the strait meets narrow Johnstone Strait. Ask them to take you to the Discovery Launch water taxi, a stunning 30-minute trip to Cortes Island. Turn right at Hwy 19A Exit, at North Campbell River and follow this road for approximately five minutes. Ferry terminal entrance is on your left.
