The spacious fully equipped kitchen and outdoor barbecue, provide the freedom to prepare your own feasts, or dine out. Complementary tea, coffee, snacks and breakfast fixings are always on hand.

Watercolour paintings by Dianne provide a magic window on island landscapes.
Relax and enjoy island life from the hammock or put your feet up in the attractive garden. Whether the friendly people, the colourful landscapes or the wildlife; this place touches all who visit here. If you have any questions about island features, our facility or any other aspect of Cortes, please feel free to ask.
The Place and the People
It is with delicious tenacity that one is invited to create a life here. Something in the air and soil tends to grab people, inspire them, urges them on beyond rational thought. Curiously there is usually no telling who it will happen to. Some of the most seemingly unlikely folks end up calling this place home.
It adds a delightful unpredictability to town hall meetings, shopping adventures, and something as simple as picking up the mail. The people you'll meet are unique, eccentric and friendly; interested in an independent creative approach to living and loving. Hugs, smiles, kisses, hoots and laughter are the most common forms of greeting. This is a place that invites everyone to slow down, get to know each other and enjoy the small wonders of rural living.
We hope we've piqued your curiosity. Come and explore one of the most beautiful and delightful places on earth. This is a nautical wonderland for kayakers, sailors and boaters all. A cyclist's paradise if you don't mind hilly terrain. A hiker's haven, a beach comber's dream come true with expanses of beach and hardly a soul on them. That's if you don't count the herons, eagles, gulls, oyster catchers, star fish, moon snails etc.
Yes, we seem to have a little bit of almost everything here. Cougars, wolves, deer, beavers, the occasional bear, mink, otters, porpoise, ravens, owls, hawks, ducks, dragonflies, turkey vultures, jelly fish, salmon, cedar, manzanita, arbutus, hemlock and salal. Our diversity is our magic and our saving grace.
So if you're looking for a memorable holiday experience, Cortes Island is well worth the trip, and if you've already looked at the map, you know, getting here is part of the adventure. Be sure to pack some yummy snacks, a camera, and your traveling shoes. Come and enjoy the beauty, the silence, the stars, the fresh air and the friendly people
