 Oyster Festival.
A sea-foodies paradise!!

All local seafood prepared by professional chefs and dished up in prodigous quantities by local sea food harvesters and community volunteers. Music, salmon barbecue, craft booths. evening dance. Usually held on 2 or third weekend in May. Cortes Island web site.

Garden, Studio and Gallery Tour. Expanded for 2009!
We're a small island but we're famous for our creativity expressed in a myriad of ways. We have lots of incredible gardens from the hearts and hands of incredible island gardeners.... and fine art in tapestries, ceramics, stone sculptures, fabric designs, watercolors, acrylics and mutli-faceted, mixed media artworks.  Cortes Day.
This is our popular "BEACH PICNIC" with all the fixings! Lots of fun, food and people watching. Delicious community fundraisers from traditional hamburgers & hot dogs to Mexican specialties and sushi, from the best pies since pies were invented to ice cream and over-the-top cookies and cakes. Eat, and eat some more! Watch or participate in the Nail, Sail and Bail, a timed boat building competition with a minimum of materials and a lot of getting wet! Kids races and events too. July
 Arts Festival. It's ALL about MUSIC!! LOTS of music over two days, outdoors, noon to midnight. You'll hear some great tunes, wild musical improvisation, jazz, blues, ska, gospel, solos, bands, pick-up groups. The WORKS. Weekend after Cortes Day. Note: We're only a few blocks from this event so if you're looking for a 'quiet' weekend, this isn't the time to stay with us, but if you're a music fan, we're ideally situated! August Sand Castle Day. Get sandy, get creative! Open to everyone! Fun for the whole family. Usually second Saturday in August. Cortes Island web site.
Year-Round
 Everyday is a wonderful day to explore the island, from a hot summer afternoon on the beach (lake or ocean) to a winter storm watch. There's walks, talks, dances, movies (winter), art shows (summer at the Old School House Gallery and other locations), quilting bees (really), literary evenings (infrequent but they do happen), trail hikes, boating (kayak, sail and power, your choice), art retreats & art classes, and much more.
