In September 08, I was invited to teach in Fort Saint John in northern BC. Our workshop space was about 20 km north of town in the rolling rangeland with fall colors everywhere. Excellent. This painting was a demonstration of my "study" concept. We all went out and sketched the dominant shapes, identified three tones and made notes of some colours. Then in the studio we used our watercolours to finish the painting from that information.
