I always enjoy putting down the first washes and I cover as large an area at one go as I can. This was two separate washes but you can see how I changed colours and let them flow together as I worked. |
I wish I'd remembered to take a photo at a stage between this one and the previous panel, as I've moved quite a big step forward here. Note the detail developing in the center left area. Again maintaining large areas for loose washes |
Now I am beginning to define the upper and center right. It is magical as the image beings to take on depth and definition, with an eye to letting the paint flow as it wills within individual shapes. |

The painting is becoming richer and richer as I move into defining the background. |
I t might be difficult to see what has transpired at this point, but I have been carefully adding tone and futher details that enhance the image. Note particularily the area around the lower part of the central tree. |
