An experiment for me, with happy results. I worked up the image in a light watercolor wash, followed by a more detailed rendering in watercolour pencil. Finishing touch, back to the water and watercolor. The image itself is of a thoroughly weathered piece of beach wood. Despite being "dead wood" it is still full of energy and visual vigor.

This painting is also of a thoroughly expired beach wood and equally expired beach grass. Again I'm intrigued by the visual vigor and energy of the life force that remains.
