The artwork in this Gallery was created to express a variety of ideas and in some cases to meet the criteria for a specific juried show. In 2006, I decided to work toward AFCA signature status in the Federation of Canadian Artists. I require acceptance in eight juried shows followed by a portfolio review. I'm doing very well toward that goal, and expect to meet the final requirements in the next few months. Wish me well! |

From a series of fern frond pencil renderings. I began both of these sitting among the ferns in the forest behind the studio. That's lovely way to work, surrounded by my subject, the sounds of birds and wind above. It often happens when I sit so still for long periods, that birds and animals forget I'm there, and often come in very close. In this case a flock of chickadees flew in, and one landed only a foot away. I almost had to go cross-eyed to look at it. The drawings were completed in the studio following approximately 40 hrs of work. Image sizes - 10" x 10" (Available as prints). They have now evolved further. See Gallery 4. |
