I love clouds. I watch their progress across the sky, always fascinated by their changing light and colours. This painting began as a quick pen sketch from our island ferry. The Mitlenatch Islands hover on the southern horizon as the Cortes Island ferry churns it way between Cortes and Quadra Islands at the north end of Georgia Strait. Due to Mitelnatch's central position in the Strait, it often marks a weather transition zone with a dramatic array of clouds.
