"Arbutus Twist"

Arbutus trees are amazing. They grow in exposed areas with minimal soil, undetered by wind broken branches or rocky headland locations. I've seen them appear to flow around a rock or other obstruction. They continue to grow putting out new shoots and branches and spreading in glorious crowns. They never willingly shed their large waxy green leaves but they shed their thin red bark each year, exposing fleshy green bark underneath .
